Cholesterol Build-Up and Reduction

There is cholesterol, then there is Cholesterol!  There is a big "scare" out in the health care world in relation to cholesterol.  Too much scare and not enough proof to prove their point.   "Too much cholesterol and then we are going to have all kinds of ill-health related problems," so say the health gurus of the 21st century.  However, have you ever been told by the medical world that an iodine deficiency can cause elevated cholesterol levels?

Not only can an iodine deficiency cause elevated cholesterol levels but other signs can be loss of interest in sex, low blood pressure, tendency toward obesity, inferior mental activity, falling hair, dry skin and hair.  More serious problems like sterility, even deformities of the  body like Cretinism, thyroid cancer, high blood cholesterol (as stated earlier) and the almighty killer, heart disease due to a little deficiency or insufficiency of iodine.

That's not all, iodine deficiency, even insufficiency can cause excessive accumulation of estrogen in the body, leading to breast cancer.  Not only the estrogen problem but poor circulation of your blood in addition to the lymphatic system.

Quality dietary sources for iodine include seaweed products, egg yolks (although never eat a partial egg, always eat the whole egg), avocado, kale, garlic, watercress, seafood, pineapple, turnip greens, Swiss chard and artichokes.  If you like to juice then you can use, chervil,  carrots, celery, chives, cabbage (especially red or savory), chard, asparagus, artichokes, avocado,  If juicing is your thing, then use Brussels sprouts, broccoli, dulse, sea lettuce, strawberries, mushrooms, tomatoes, pineapple, pears,  watercress, garlic,  and only organic green grapes or potato skins (non-organics generally have massive amounts of dangerous fluorides in them from insecticides and fluoridated water supplies).

But iodine is not all in this cholesterol story.  Magnesium is a huge factor in healthy levels of cholesterol and guess what, the prevention of heart attacks.  A lack of magnesium can cause over-calcification of the joints and tissue.  Not only that but if you have trouble consuming wheat or corn products, you may also be deficient, even just insufficiency can cause an intolerance to all wheat or corn products and bringing magnesium levels up to normal range can also eventually curtail tinnitus, an irritating ringing in the ear.

Kelp preferably raw but some cooked green leafy vegetables, figs, almonds, apples and sesame are outstanding foods to help re-supply your body with magnesium.  For juicing, lemons, grapefruit, lettuce sugar beet tops, raw corn, dandelion leaves, plums and spinach are great sources of magnesium.

Balance in all things is best, however so taking magnesium with a good balance of the vitamins, B-6, C, D and the minerals Calcium (2 parts to one part magnesium), Phosphorus and let's not forget Protein.  Don't think you are expected to be a bio-chemist to balance everything properly.  Take heart, suggestions for balancing all of these suggestions is right around the corner.

EPA is a fatty acid derived from fish, in fact from all seafood.  EPA is a lipid or fatty acid.  EPA is different from all other fats because it has  about 18 ounces fewer carbons than other fats.  Actually EPA has about as much as 20, even more carbons per molecule.  This equates to our bodies being able to utilize EPA as a building block for building prostaglandins (substances that can prevent the increase and build up of cholesterol).  This means the plaque leading to arterial blockage can be greatly reduced with daily consumption of EPA.

Nobody wants to eat fish each and every day.  Too bad, because societies that use fish as a daily mainstay have far fewer negative health concerns.  The Scandinavians, Eskimos, coastal Indians and others living on the shores of salt water seas and oceans show a greater positive constitution than people living in a higher grain consumption inland areas and those consuming the foods of the modern world.

Fish oils or cod liver oils are a great answer for supplying a daily dose of EPA.  Don't overdo the EPA if taking fish oils however, because you can burn up triglycerides and cholesterol in addition to other lipids in your system and your body's fuel supply can be depleted rapidly.  Taking your fish oils at night is the best time to take EPA because they may help you sleep better.

Primrose oil has been shown in many tests to help reduce cholesterol.  When this happens, frequently the formation of plaque is inhibited.  It is also good for those with hypertension and high blood pressure.  Bedtime is the appropriate time to take primrose oil.  In relation to the taking of oils, it is best to be tested for sulfur insufficiencies or deficiencies before administering.  We already know fat allergies are caused by sulfur deficiencies.  A good way to tell if you have a sulfur deficiency is to observe the frequency of hair loss.  Possibly you have a slight dry cough or feel like you have something sitting on your chest.  This can frequently be signs of sulfur deficiency.  Also, gall bladder condition is a good sign of sulfur deficiency.

Garlic is nature's antibiotic and actually is best for dissolving dangerous LDL cholesterol.  Garlic is also a miracle food for reduction of high blood pressure but even those with low blood pressure can definately benefit from daily consumption of garlic.  That's not all, Garlic is also great for reducing cardiovascular symptoms like angina.  Garlic contains sulfur so is great along with daily consumption of soft boiled or raw egg to replenish that all important sulfur supply in your system.  Another great source of sulfur is MSM or sarsaparilla.

Go to www.stairwaytohealth.com and open up recipes, print out our Salad Dressing base.  Daily consumption of Salad Dressing base which is filled with freshly minced garlic can be used on all vegetables, salads, meats, fish and poultry.   For raw egg recipes look at our Egg Nog and Ice Cream recipes.  Another way to have egg and avoid those toxic does of grain filled breads every day is to open up our Egg Bread recipe and replace breads with Egg bread instead.

And garlic contains vitamins A, B1 as well as vitamin C.  Selenium, sulfur, calcium manganese, copper, iron, potassium and zinc are precious minerals so now you can see why garlic is so good for us.  Not only that but garlic is filled with volatile oils.

I hope you are beginning to see how important good foods are for us.  The highly refined, highly cooked and mineral deficient foods currently lining our grocery store shelves do not provide nutrition, rather, those foods tend to "starve our bodies to death!"

Stairway to Health also highly advises daily consumption of "PURE AUSSIE SEA MINERALS" in conjunction with Probiotic B Flora Balance. (go to www.stairwaytohealth.com and read more information about both of these low priced all natural compounds.

Additionally, daily dosages of the B complex rich whole foods, ROYAL JELLY and BEE POLLEN are absolutely essential for restoring eventual metabolism because Bee Pollen and Royal Jelly provide all the B complexes, especially B1 Thiamine and B5 Pantothenic Acid for proper production of Hydrochloric Acid.  This equates to better digestion and fewer problems with putrifaction in our GI tracts.

Lower LDL cholesterol equates to fewer chances of heart disease and stroke.  But did you know that the Mennonites and many other cultures that consume large quantities of milk related products have very high cholesterol?  They are healthy and have far fewer health concerns than those of us who get frightened every time we are told "you have high cholesterol!"  Next time you are tested for cholesterol levels, ask those pesky medical folks, "what type of high cholesterol do I have?"  If they tell you LDL, it is time to change your dietary practices.  If they tell you HDL, then smile and know that you are not really out of wack!
